Since 2019, Audi has produced the Audi e-Tron, a battery-electric mid-size premium crossover. At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the e-Tron was introduced as a concept automobile.
The final production version was unveiled in San Francisco on September 17, 2018, made its public premiere at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and was delivered for the first time in May 2019. It’s the company’s first mass-market battery electric vehicle.
The Audi E-Tron is also practical, with plenty of room for the whole family and their belongings, despite the lack of a seven-seat option. Although the UK’s inadequate 50kW charging network limits its full capabilities, the SUV’s popularity will expand as the infrastructure improves.
The Audi e-Tron is considered one of the best of a small but outstanding group of premium electric cars/ SUVs if you like the notion of a premium electric SUV and can live with the available charging options.

Features: It contains a 360-degree camera system, the Black Optic package and black 21-inch rims with orange brake calipers, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, heated steering wheel, Olufsen Audio System, prestige trim, adaptive air suspension, boost mode, regenerative brakes, towing package, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, LED matrix headlights, and a suite of driver assists.
Dashboard: Audi’s digital gauge cluster, dubbed Virtual Cockpit, and two flush-mounted touchscreens in the center are among the dashboard’s several high-resolution screens.
Of course, expensive features like a head-up display and massaging front seats are available to fill out the E-Tron’s cabin, which benefits from a level floor thanks to the battery pack’s neatly packaged underfloor storage.
The basic Audi E-Tron has a cargo compartment behind the back row and 57 cubic feet with the seatbacks folded flat. The sloping roofline of the Sportback reduces these figures by two cubes, but we still have room for seven carry-ons.

The entirely digital dashboard is flanked on either side by a pair of swish virtual door mirrors on Launch Edition automobiles.
Two high-resolution cameras send views to a set of small displays in the doors, replacing the traditional mirrors. On standard models, it’s also available as a cost option, but in our experience, it’s not quite there yet.
The biggest issue is with the display placement. While the passenger side is fine, the driver’s side sits on the door at a shallow angle, as if extending the door by 10 or 15 degrees would give you a better perspective.
However, the added range is due to the aerodynamic benefit.
The Audi E-Tron inherits the A6’s, A7’s, and A8’s dual-screen infotainment system. It comes as standard on all models and complements the Virtual Cockpit digital dials.
Haptic feedback recognizes touch inputs on the two full-HD monitors.
It takes some getting used to, and while the functions aren’t as simple as physical buttons, the system does notify you when something has been selected.
The menus are sensible enough, but they don’t have the same straightforward structure as BMW’s new iDrive system.
Audi MMI Navigation Plus, a three-year membership to Audi Connect online infotainment services, a DAB radio, Bluetooth, and wireless mobile phone charging is included in every version.
Audi Smartphone Interface is also featured, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available charging points are pre-installed in the navigation program, allowing you to arrange your journeys around them.
The E-Tron handles turns easily despite weighing more than 2.5 tons when equipped with a driver. The suspension prevents the car from tilting excessively through turns, the wide tires provide enough traction, and the steering is precise.
If you’re searching for a good time, the iX3 and the I-Pace are excellent choices. Notably, the iX3 shifts direction more quickly and swing less through corners.
The seats are higher than in some electric SUVs, providing ample thigh support, and the flat rear floor makes it simple to transport three persons.
According to the EPA, the ordinary Audi E-Tron has a range of 222 miles, while the Sportback variant has a range of 218 miles.
Both variations, however, lag behind rivals like the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model X Long Range. Every Audi E-Tron comes with a 150-kW fast charger that can recharge the battery to 80% capacity in around 30 minutes.
On the other hand…
The Jaguar EV features a 100-kW DC charger that slowly recharges the battery.
Those who use a standard 240-volt outlet will be able to charge the E-Tron in roughly nine hours.
Two electric motors, one at the front axle and the other at the rear, are hidden beneath the E-Tron’s wrinkled bodywork. They work together to offer electronic all-wheel drive, but the rear motor is in charge of most work.
They produce a combined 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque in normal driving conditions.
Putting the transmission in Sport mode, on the other hand, unlocks 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque for a short time. The Audi E-Tron impressed us with its speed and poise when driving.
Its quick acceleration is typical of electric vehicles, and the smooth and quiet ride validated its status as a premium vehicle. Its braking system skillfully combines traditional brakes with the required regenerative braking technology.
During a test of the Sportback variant, though, the observers were disappointed that the regen wasn’t vigorous enough to allow one-pedal driving. Despite this, the Audi E-Tron has classic SUV traits, such as the capacity to tow up to 4000 pounds.
The 2022 Audi e-Tron, with 664Nm of torque, is no exception. Electric cars are known for their rapid acceleration and spectacular straight-line speed.
While it may not accelerate as quickly as a Tesla Model X from a stop – and a softer throttle pedal calibration makes it feel less hyperactive than the Tesla – the e-Tron nevertheless has sufficient electric shove and punch for most drivers.
The e-Tron starts with ease thanks to instant torque and a Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
It can make rapid overtake with ease and slip into traffic gaps that would have been long gone by the time diesel rivals’ auto gears had awakened.
Accept that the e-Tron isn’t a sports vehicle; still, the driving experience will delight you in various ways. The regenerative braking system is particularly easy to operate.
While it isn’t as aggressive as in a BMW i3 or Nissan Leaf, it can slow the car considerably on approach to crossroads or roundabouts.
Surprisingly, the technology also works when you push the brake pedal, with the mechanical brakes only being used under extremely heavy loads, which helps to conserve battery charge.
Audi’s limited and powertrain warranties are competitive, not ordinary.
Is Audi E-Tron Reliable?
There are no precise reliability statistics for the Audi E-Tron because it is so new. The fact that it’s Audi’s first all-electric production vehicle adds to the uncertainty.
Still, the brand’s reputation precedes it, so we have few problems endorsing the E Tron SUV dependability.
The Q5 was the highest-ranking Audi in our 2020 Driver Power Study owner satisfaction survey (46th out of 75 cars); however other Volkswagen Group models, such as the Skoda Octavia and SEAT Arona, came in higher.
The carmaker came in 21st place ahead of BMW and Mercedes but behind Jaguar and Volvo.
In terms of safety, the Audi E-Tron should be a capable family vehicle. It received a perfect score in the 2019 Euro NCAP safety test.
Cost and Verdict:
The electrified version of the family E Tron SUV. The Audi E-Tron may appear dull and unremarkable, but that’s just the goal. It is an important aspect of the electric car tipping point since it aims to attract people who want to drive an electric car but don’t want to be weirded out by it.
It is true for the vast majority of consumers, and the E-Tron, while being more expensive than a comparable diesel SUV, is sure to find many enthusiastic buyers.
It’s a car that’s simple to understand, well-executed, and reassuringly well-built and developed. In other words, an Audi. We’d prefer it to be lighter and last longer between charges, and we’re still not convinced of the benefits of the camera side mirrors.

We’d add even more desirable features with the optional Convenience Plus package, including black exterior trim, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera system.
We’d also go with the Tow package to take advantage of the E-Tron’s capabilities of 4000-pounds.
Audi E-Tron – Models :
Audi E-Tron 55 Quattro: The E-Tron has the wonderful EV quality of being at its most peaceful and calming just when the surrounding environment is at its most stressful — in other words, amid severe stop-and-go traffic.
The only thing that will likely bother you is a little (remote) tire noise, even at greater speeds. Wind noise is virtually non-existent, and once the motor is running, there’s no discernable whining from that source.
Finally, the cabin is a wonderful place, but I’ll admit that I’m still not sold on Audi’s haptic-feedback touchscreens, which demand you to ‘prod’ buttons on the screen as if they were physical switches. The purpose of a touchscreen, after all, is that you only have to touch it.
Audi E-Tron 50 Quattro: While the E-Tron 55 can accept chargers up to 150kW, the E-Tron 50 can only accept chargers up to 120kW. However, it can still be charged to 80 percent in around half an hour using a rapid-charging station.
In addition, the E-Tron 50 is less powerful than the E-Tron 55. The twin-motor setup remains the same, but maximum power is reduced from 402 to 308 bhp, while maximum torque is reduced from 490 to 398 lb-ft.
It takes 7.0 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph and has an electronically regulated top speed of 118 mph.
On the WLTP test cycle, the E-Tron 50’s 71kWh battery – presumably the lowest-capacity pack Audi will offer in the E-Tron – gives it a range of up to 190 miles. That’s 51 miles less than the previous record.
Audi E-Tron 55 Quattro Sportback: Audi’s word for a ‘four-door coupe,’ in sedan or SUV form, is a Sportback model. It translates to a roofline that tapers all the way smoothly to the vehicle’s rear end, resulting in a significantly more eye-catching shape.
It’s not just about looks: the roof has been lowered by 13mm, resulting in a slipperier 0.25cd drag coefficient compared to the 0.27cd of the standard e-Tron.
The front half of the E-Tron SUV, on the other hand, appears untouched, with the same big single-frame grille, sharp-looking 20-inch alloy wheels, slim digital Matrix LED headlights with their four-slat e-Tron characteristic and twin charging outlets on each of the front fenders. Plasma Blue Metallic, the color of our test car, is a Sportback-only color.
2022 Audi E-Tron: The 2022 Audi e-Tron SUV includes new 21-inch wheel styles and newly available orange brake calipers. The Prestige trim is no longer available on the ordinary e-Tron; instead, Audi has introduced the Chronos Edition.
LED matrix headlights, the Black Optic package, and S-line exterior components accentuated in Chronos Gray paint and boasting orange brake calipers inside black 21-inch wheels are included in this 2022 Audi E-Tron top-spec model.
Standard features are a black headliner, grey ash wood interior accents, and rear-seat side airbags.
The Convenience Plus package includes a 360-degree camera system, the Black Optic package, and black 21-inch rims with orange brakes, which are available on the 2022 Audi e-Tron Sportback Premium.
Conclusions -Audi E-Tron
The Audi e-Tron, which will debut in 2022, has a sci-fi-sounding name that teases its all-electric nature, but it otherwise looks and operates like a regular mid-size luxury SUV.
The Audi e-Tron Sportback, its coupe-like counterpart, has a more intriguing design, but it still doesn’t attract as much attention as the gull-winged Tesla Model X or the jazzy Jaguar I-Pace.
Audi avoids the conventional EV style that appeals to the tech crowd; both E-Trons have a refined and serene interior, with the fastback Sportback sacrificing some practicality in the name of fashion.
A pair of powerful electric motors provide All-wheel drive and near-instant acceleration, but both variants are better at cruising than cornering. The range estimates for the 2022 Audi e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback are limited.
Audi E-Tron is the most remarkable car, and as soon as you see it, you will fall in love.
